Meftal-MR Tablet

Meftal-MR Tablet is a medicine used in the treatment of abdominal cramps. It relaxes the muscles in the stomach or intestine and stops sudden muscle contractions, thereby relieving cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort.

Meftal-MR Tablet should be taken with food. This will prevent you from getting an upset stomach. Take it in the dose and duration as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or use it for longer duration than recommended by the doctor.

The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, loss of appetite, sleepiness, weakness, and dryness in mouth. If any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get worse, you should let your doctor know. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing them.

Before taking it, you should let your doctor know if you have any medical conditions or disorders. Let your doctor also know about all the other medicines you are taking to make sure it is safe for you. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before starting treatment.

Meftal-MR Tablet gives relief from pain and cramps and works best if they are used when the first signs of pain occur. It slows the natural movements of the gut and relaxes the muscles in the stomach and intestines. It also reduces the activity of certain chemicals that causes pain. Inform your doctor if your pain persists or worsens.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Meftal-MR Tablet is to be taken with food.

Meftal-MR Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Mefenamic acid and Tizanidine which relieve abdominal pain. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti- inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Tizanidine is a muscle relaxant which works by acting on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve the muscle stiffness or spasm.

• You have been prescribed Meftal-MR Tablet to relieve abdominal cramps.
• It is best to take it when the first sign of pain occurs.
• Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy rich food in order to avoid feeling sick (nausea).
• If you get diarrhea while taking this medicine, consult your doctor immediately.
• Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
• Do not take indigestion remedies (antacids) within two hours of taking Meftal-MR Tablet.
• If you develop any new symptoms, or if your symptoms get worse, make an appointment to see your doctor for further advice.
