Uses of Usal LS Plus Syrup
Usal LS Plus Syrup is used to treat coughs with mucus (excess sputum/phlegm in the airways), chest congestion and respiratory infections. This medicine contains three medicines—the first two thins out the phlegm trapped in our airways, removing them from our body; the third increases airflow and relaxes the airways for improved breathing. Your doctor may prescribe this medication for any respiratory infections that cause productive cough (wet cough).
Usal LS Plus Syrup can be used in the following conditions:
How Usal LS Plus Syrup works
Usal LS Plus Syrup works by thinning out the phlegm (mucus) trapped in our airways, thereby removing them from our bodies. It also alleviates difficulties associated with respiratory infections by increasing airflow and relaxing the airways for improved breathing.
Usal LS Plus Syrup contains three medicines: ambroxol (mucolytic and mucokinetic agent,), levosalbutamol (short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist) and guaifenesin (expectorant). This combination helps remove sputum buildup in the airways and makes breathing easier by opening up the airways.
Ambroxol hydrochloride is a mucolytic and mucokinetic agent. This medicine thins the sticky and viscous mucus stuck in the airways and allows the body to remove it through cough easily; thus, it is a mucolytic agent. It also makes one cough out more sputum by increasing the intensity of the cough and removing the sticky mucus secretions from the airways, thus functioning as a mucokinetic agent. The mechanism of action involves depolymerizing mucopolysaccharides of mucus which decreases the viscosity and increases the transport of bronchial secretions.
Levosalbutamol is a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It works by working on the beta-2 adrenergic receptors located in the airways, which results in its widening. This helps patients with bronchospasms to breathe freely and alleviates symptoms associated with obstruction, such as wheezing, difficulty breathing and coughing. It is often used in patients suffering from bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Guaifenesin is an expectorant (medicine which helps clear sputum from airways) which works by increasing the output of respiratory tract fluid, enhancing the flow of secretions and facilitating the removal of thickened mucus. This is achieved by promoting the mucociliary mechanism in the body.
