Pyristig 60mg Tablet

Pyristig 60mg Tablet is used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis (a disease-causing muscle weakness and tiredness), paralytic ileus (paralysis of intestinal muscles), postoperative urinary retention, and reversal of effect of skeletal muscle relaxants after surgery.

Pyristig 60mg Tablet works by reducing and improving muscle weakness. It should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably at the same time each day. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment. You should never stop this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor.

Some common side effects of using this medication are nausea, excessive salivation, diarrhea, blurred vision, shortness of breath, watery eyes, abdominal pain, and altered frequency of urination. Some other side effects that may be seen with it include sweating, headache, runny nose, and heartburn. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness. So, avoid doing any such work that requires focus and attention, such as driving or operating any machinery.

Before taking Pyristig 60mg Tablet, it is better to inform your doctor if you are suffering from any kidney problems, Parkinson's disease, asthma, or stomach disorders. Your blood pressure may decrease after taking this medicine, so it is better to monitor it and consult your doctor if it bothers you. This medicine may cause diarrhea, so drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated while taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding, before taking this medicine.

Myasthenia gravis
Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular disorder that leads to weakness of muscles that are under our control, such as those of the eyes, face, and swallowing. Pyristig 60mg Tablet makes this coordination between nerves and muscles better and relieves the symptoms. As a result, your muscle strength is improved and you are able to lead a better life.

Paralytic ileus
Paralytic ileus is the obstruction of the intestines due to improper functioning of the nerves and muscles in the intestine that impairs digestive movement. Pyristig 60mg Tablet induces contractions in the intestinal muscles and improves their function. As a result, there is better movement of food and this treats the obstruction. Take it as advised by the doctor and follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.

Post-operative urinary retention
After an operation, there may be problems in emptying the bladder. This may be due to disturbed coordination of nerves and muscles of the bladder. Pyristig 60mg Tablet helps to improve this problem and treats post-operative urinary retention effectively.

Reversal of effect of skeletal muscle relaxant after surgery
Skeletal muscle relaxants are given to induce anesthesia and to carry out surgical or certain diagnostic procedures. This blocks the conduction of signals between nerves and muscles. After the surgery, Pyristig 60mg Tablet is given to reverse this effect and cause muscle contraction again to restore normal function.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

• You have been prescribed Pyristig 60mg Tablet for treatment of myasthenia gravis.
• It may also be used to treat inactivity of the muscle in the intestines (paralytic ileus) and difficulty in passing urine (urinary retention) after an operation.
• Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.
• Take it as per the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Overdosing can result in extreme muscle weakness.
• It may cause dizziness or blurred vision. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
• Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine as it may worsen the side effects.
• Inform your doctor if you have an existing kidney problem, parkinson's disease, asthma, or stomach disorders.
