Introduction To Orowash

Orowash is a combination of three medicines. It is used to treat infection of mouth or gums. This mouthwash has antimicrobial action on the infection- causing bacteria. It also prevents the teeth from getting cavities and makes them stronger.

Orowash should be used as per directed by your doctor. Do not use more than the recommended doses of this medicine. After taking a measured amount of this medicine in the mouth, rinse it thoroughly so that it reaches every corner of the mouth. Spit it out after rinsing and remember not to swallow it.

This medicine is a safe medicine and usually does not cause any side effects. However, long-term use of this medicine may cause staining of the teeth.

How to use Orowash

Check the label before use. Take the mouthwash in the quantity as advised by your doctor and put it in your mouth. Swish for 30 seconds to 1 minute and spit it. Do not swallow. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes after rinsing.

How Orowash works

Orowash is a combination of three medicines: Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Sodium Fluoride and Zinc Chloride. Chlorhexidine Gluconate is an antiseptic. It works by binding to the surface of teeth, inner cheeks and gums. This kills the infectious microorganisms that cause gum disease, ulcers and other mouth infections. Sodium Fluoride works by making the teeth stronger and preventing decay (cavity) caused by bacteria. Zinc Chloride has antiseptic and astringent action.

  • Orowash is given for the treatment of mouth infection and its associated symptoms such as ulcers and swelling in the gums.
  • Do not add water to the oral rinse. Do not rinse your mouth with water or other mouthwashes right after using Orowash.
  • Avoid eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth just after using this medication.
  • Do not use Orowash if you have deep oral ulcers or throat infection.
  • Stop using this medicine and inform your doctor if any irritation occurs.
  • If symptoms persist for more than seven days, consult your doctor.
  • Along with using Orowash maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth twice daily with a soft bristle brush.
  • Have regular dental checkups at intervals recommended by your dentist (this is normally at least once a year).

Can I take Orowash if I’m pregnant?
