How to use Ocurest Sterile Eye Drop

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off the extra liquid.

How Ocurest Sterile Eye Drop works

Ocurest Sterile Eye Drop is a combination of two medicines: Naphazoline and phenylephrine which relieve eye itching/discomfort caused by seasonal allergies. Naphazoline is a sympathomimetic-alpha 1 medicine which also narrows the blood vessels in the eye, thereby reducing redness and swelling. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which tightens the blood vessels in the eye. This decreases the production of fluid in the eye and increases its drainage.

Quick tips

  • Ocurest Sterile Eye Drop provides soothing relief from eye irritation due to allergy.
  • It should usually be used twice a day (in the morning and the evening). If your symptoms are particularly severe, your doctor may suggest you use them up to four times a day.
  • In case the dropper tip gets contaminated, squeeze out two or three drops straightaway onto some tissue and rinse the tip with saltwater.
  • After applying Ocurest Sterile Eye Drop, close your eyes, and place one finger at the corner of your eye. Apply gentle pressure for 1 to 2 minutes before opening your eyes. This will prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink or rub your eye.
  • Avoid wearing contact lenses until your doctor advises you that it is suitable for you to wear your lenses again.
