Introduction To Mega Pred Injection
Mega Pred Injection is a corticosteroid that treats conditions such as asthma, severe allergies, arthritis, eye disorders, psoriasis, systemic lupus erythematosus and adrenocortical insufficiency. It contains methylprednisolone, a synthetic steroid hormone, which acts as an immunosuppressant and anti-inflammatory agent. It works by suppressing the immune system and reducing inflammation.
Mega Pred Injection should be taken as advised by your doctor. Take the tablet with your meal to avoid stomach discomfort and other similar side effects. Try not to chew or break; swallow the pill as a whole. To prevent adverse effects, take it as per your doctor’s prescription.
Side effects of Mega Pred Injection include stomach pain, vomiting, headache, dizziness, insomnia, restlessness, depression and irregular menstrual cycles. These adverse effects usually go away on their own and should not be of concern. If they persist or become worse, contact your doctor.
Mega Pred Injection may be contraindicated (unsafe) for people with kidney, liver, heart or intestinal disease; diabetes; hypothyroidism; hypertension; myasthenia gravis; osteoporosis; seizures; tuberculosis or allergies to methylprednisolone. Always let your doctor know of any health conditions you might have. Generally, this medicine is considered safe for most people.
Uses of Mega Pred Injection
Mega Pred Injection contains a synthetic corticosteroid hormone called methylprednisolone that treats inflammation (pain, swelling, heat and redness) and suppresses an overactive immune system.
This medicine may be prescribed for the following conditions:
How Mega Pred Injection works
Mega Pred Injection contains methylprednisolone, a synthetic corticosteroid hormone that binds to receptors in the body that inhibit the production and release of chemical substances that cause inflammation and pain.
Methylprednisolone acts in the body to decrease the permeability of the capillaries and vasodilation and lower the leukocyte migration to sites of inflammation. It also promotes anti-inflammatory genes like interleukin-10. Lower doses of steroids have an anti-inflammatory effect; higher doses are immunosuppressive.
Dosage
Always take Mega Pred Injection as prescribed by your doctor. Never consume more than the prescribed dose. Swallow it whole with plenty of water; do not chew or crush it. You may take this medicine after your meals to minimise gastric upset.
If you forget to take this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, ignore the one that you missed and continue with the next. Do not take twice the amount to compensate for a missed dose.
Taking more than the prescribed dose of Mega Pred Injection may lead to overdosing. You may contact your doctor or visit the nearest hospital if you experience signs like blurred vision and swelling of the arms and legs.
As Mega Pred Injection is a steroid medicine, you may need to gradually decrease the dose to prevent withdrawal symptoms like severe fatigue, loss of appetite, joint pain and mood swings. If you do experience withdrawal signs, you may be advised to take an increased dose temporarily or start taking them again.
Safety Advice
Mega Pred Injection may be contraindicated for people with a history of kidney, liver, heart or intestinal disease; diabetes; hypothyroidism; hypertension; myasthenia gravis; osteoporosis; seizures; tuberculosis or allergies to methylprednisolone. Always let your doctor know of any health conditions you might have.
