Introduction To Mahazone 1gm Injection

Mahazone 1gm Injection contains ceftriaxone, which belongs to the group of antibiotics called cephalosporin. It is used to treat severe gram-negative infections, including pneumonia, meningitis, pyelonephritis, and gonorrhoea. This medication is also prescribed for bacterial infections in the ear, nose, abdomen, skin and urinary tract.

Mahazone 1gm Injection is injected directly into a vein/muscle or given as a drip/cannula under the supervision of your doctor. This medicine is administered at evenly spaced intervals as per your doctor's prescription. Do not stop taking this antibiotic before the prescribed dosage is finished, even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early can lead to a return of or worsening of the symptoms.

Side effects of Mahazone 1gm Injection include nausea, vomiting, vaginal itching, rash and diarrhoea. You might also notice a slight redness and warmth in the area of injection. These adverse effects usually go away on their own and should not be of any concern. Talk to your doctor if they persist.

Mahazone 1gm Injection is contraindicated (unsafe) for people with anaemia, congestive heart failure, colitis, liver diseases or allergies to cephalosporins like ceftriaxone. Always let your doctor know of any health conditions you might have. Generally, this medicine is considered safe for most people.

Uses of Mahazone 1gm Injection

Mahazone 1gm Injection contains a third-generation cephalosporin called ceftriaxone. It is a highly effective antibiotic that treats bacterial infections in various organs, including the brain (unlike many other antibiotics), like meningitis. This medicine is resistant to beta-lactamases, an enzyme bacteria produce to inactivate certain antibiotics, making it an ideal choice for treating various bacterial infections.

Mahazone 1gm Injection is used to treat pneumonia (infection of the lungs), meningitis (infection of the brain and spinal cord), sepsis (life-threatening reaction to an infection), pyelonephritis (kidney infection), and gonorrhoea (sexually transmitted disease affecting the reproductive tract). This medication is also prescribed for surgical prophylaxis and bacterial infections in the ear, nose, abdomen, blood, bones, joints, skin and urinary tract.

Ceftriaxone (contained in Mahazone 1gm Injection) is effective against gram-negative bacteria such as Serratia, Pseudomonas, most Enterobacteriaceae, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Borrelia burgdorferi. It can also be used against a few gram-positive bacteria.

How Mahazone 1gm Injection works

Mahazone 1gm Injection contains ceftriaxone, which works by inhibiting cell wall synthesis, effectively killing the bacteria causing the infection. Ceftriaxone is a bactericidal drug, which means it kills bacteria instead of suppressing their growth, which is what bacteriostatic drugs do.

Ceftriaxone is third-generation cephalosporin that is effective against gram-negative bacteria such as Serratia, Pseudomonas, most Enterobacteriaceae, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Borrelia burgdorferi; as well as a few gram-positive bacteria as well. A factor that makes this antibiotic highly effective is its impressive CNS penetration, which means this medicine can enter the nervous system and treat severe infections that affect the brain and spinal cord.

Cephalosporins such as ceftriaxone inhibit cell wall synthesis by blocking the production of mucopeptide, which is a polymer substance found inside bacterial cell walls. This medicine binds penicillin-binding proteins with the help of unique chemical structures called beta-lactam rings. This binding results in the inhibition of transpeptidation in peptidoglycan, a process crucial for forming cell walls in bacteria. Without the cell wall, the bacteria die.
