Injection

Injection is prescribed for conditions such as vitamin D deficiency, osteoporosis, hypoparathyroidism and rickets. These capsules contain vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, which helps the body absorb calcium and maintain healthy bones. This medicine increases calcium phosphate levels in the blood; ensures proper mineralisation of bones, making them stronger and less likely to break.

Injection should be taken as advised by your doctor. Your doses will be adjusted depending on your condition and blood calcium levels. Ideally, vitamin D supplements are taken for a long duration to treat deficiencies since the effect will be most pronounced after one month of use. It is best to take these vitamin D3 capsules after having food for maximum absorption.

Side effects of Injection include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, headache and weight loss. These adverse effects may indicate hypervitaminosis, the excess intake (overdose/toxicity). If you experience any of these adverse effects, stop taking medicine and talk to your doctor.

Injection may be contraindicated (unsafe) for people with kidney stones, hypercalcemia, hyperparathyroidism, diabetes, phenylketonuria and allergies to vitamin D supplements. Always let your doctor know of any health conditions you might have, such as heart, kidney or liver diseases. Generally, this drug is considered safe for most people.

Injection primarily treats vitamin D deficiency (that results in low calcium levels) and the conditions that arise from it, such as osteoporosis. It can also be given as a supplement for your diet to increase cholecalciferol (vitamin D) and calcium levels in the blood.

A lack of exposure to sunlight can also lower vitamin D levels since our body uses sunlight to synthesise the vitamin from cholesterol.

First, it enhances absorption of calcium and phosphate from the intestine by increasing the synthesis of calcium channels and a carrier protein for Ca2+. Second, it enhances resorption of calcium and phosphate from bone by promoting recruitment and differentiation of osteoclast precursors. Finally, it enhances tubular reabsorption of calcium and phosphate in the kidney
