Dapacose 10 Tablet

Dapacose 10 Tablet is a medication for treating people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains dapagliflozin, an anti-diabetic that decreases high blood sugar levels while preventing complications like kidney disease and nerve damage.

Dapacose 10 Tablet should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. They come in tablet form, and swallowing them whole is recommended. It is also advised to be taken at the same time every day. Strictly follow the doses prescribed by your doctor since any deviation will adversely alter the glucose level causing side effects.

The most common side effects include polydipsia (increased thirst) and polyuria (increased urination), which is typical for a medication that alters renal filtration. More severe side effects like discoloured and painful urination or abdominal pain require medical attention.

Dapacose 10 Tablet is contraindicated for people with renal impairment or diabetic ketoacidosis. This medication should also not be taken along with any corticosteroid therapy. People with diabetes type 1 aren’t usually prescribed Dapacose 10 Tablet since dapagliflozin works independently of pancreatic β cell function. This medication works by altering the amount of sugar our kidneys excrete, keeping the blood sugar levels in the normal range.

Dapagliflozin in Dapacose 10 Tablet helps combat hyperglycemia by increasing the amount of sugar the kidney excretes through urine. This lowers the sugar levels in the blood but doesn’t cure the condition on its own. That is why doctors prescribe this medication along with lifestyle changes (more exercise, less smoking, etc.) and a healthy diet low in sugar.

Frequent checkups and blood sugar tests are done to ensure a proper assessment, after which your doctor can adjust the dose of Dapacose 10 Tablet to maintain the sugar levels in the normal ranges.

This therapy also prevents the complications of chronic hyperglycemia like kidney failure, gum diseases, neuropathy (nerve damage) and vision impairment (diabetic retinopathy) which are seen in diabetic people.

Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, an anti-diabetic, that decreases blood glucose levels.
