Introduction To Climagen Cream

Climagen Cream belongs to a group of medicines called steroids. It is used to treat various skin conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, and allergies. It works by reducing swelling, redness, and itchiness of the skin and prevents further irritation.

Climagen Cream is meant for external use and is to be used only as advised by your doctor. Wash and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of the medicine. Avoid any contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with plenty of water if you accidentally get it in these areas. Avoid covering the treated area with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor.

Using the medicine may cause skin thinning, burning sensation, irritation, redness, and swelling at the site of application. These are temporary and usually resolve with time. However, if they persist or worsen, let your doctor know. Climagen Cream is not recommended to be used in children. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctors before using this medicine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can Climagen Cream be used for a long time?

No, Climagen Cream should not be used for a long time. The doctor generally prescribes it for 2 consecutive weeks only. However, the treatment can be longer for chronic (long-term) inflammatory conditions. Consult your physician before using this medication.

Q. Does Climagen Cream cause severe skin reactions?

Severe skin reactions are quite rare with Climagen Cream. Climagen Cream is an anti- inflammatory drug which is used to treat skin diseases, skin reactions and eczemas. However, skin reactions can occur in a person who is hypersensitive to Climagen Cream. It is important to leave the affected area open after applying Climagen Cream as using occlusive dressings (air- and water-tight dressing) can lead to skin reactions. The medicine may not itself cause a reaction but the added excipients with the medications can lead to a reaction in some cases. Inform your doctor immediately in case you encounter any skin reactions.

Q. Can Climagen Cream be used on the face?

No, Climagen Cream should not be used on the face. In addition to this, Climagen Cream should also not be used on the axillae (armpits), groin, and if there is atrophy (wasting away of tissues) at the treatment site. In certain circumstances, it can be exceptionally considered to be used by doctors. It should be used only after consultation with your physician and if possible, the application on the face should be limited to a maximum of 5 days.

Q. Can Climagen Cream be applied to children?

Climagen Cream is not recommended for use in children less than 1 year of age. It is also not recommended for use in older children and adolescents as the side effects are more common in them. In the pediatric population, there is an increased risk of suppression of the immune system which may make the child prone to other diseases and atrophic changes, hence it is not recommended. Still, in some rare cases, the doctor may recommend this medicine, but the treatment is usually limited to 5 days and the therapy is reviewed weekly.

Q. Can we use Climagen Cream in infections?

Climagen Cream is not an antimicrobial or antifungal agent. It is a steroid medication. It should not be used in infections as being a corticosteroid, it suppresses the immune system and increases the risk of infections. Bacterial infections are prone to worsen if the infection is covered with a dressing after using Climagen Cream. In case the inflammatory lesions get infected or there is any spread of infection, consult your doctor immediately. The doctor will withdraw the use of Climagen Cream and provide appropriate antimicrobial therapy.

Q. Can I stop taking Climagen Cream when my symptoms are relieved?

No, do not stop taking Climagen Cream and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before your treatment is complete. Stopping Climagen Cream before your treatment is completed can bring back your symptoms.

Q. Does Climagen Cream cause dangerous skin reactions?

Local skin reactions are quite rare with Climagen Cream. Being an anti- inflammatory drug, it is used to treat skin diseases, skin reactions, and eczemas. Still, skin reactions can occur in a person who is hypersensitive to Climagen Cream. It is important to leave the affected area open after applying Climagen Cream as using occlusive dressings (air- and water-tight dressing) can lead to skin reactions. If not by the medicine itself, sometimes the reactions are also caused by the added excipients with the medications. Inform your doctor immediately in case you encounter any skin reactions.
