Arkamin Tablet

Arkamin Tablet is a medicine used in the urgent treatment of hypertensive emergency (severely increased blood pressure). It brings about rapid reduction in blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels. Lowering the blood pressure helps to prevent future stroke and heart attack.

Arkamin Tablet is injected by or under the supervision of a doctor. Continuous blood pressure monitoring is needed while giving this medicine. You should continue all your medicines that are advised by the doctor for long-term treatment of hypertension even after this emergency injection.

Common side effects associated with this injection includes dizziness, dry mouth, and constipation. You must inform the doctor if you are suffering from any liver or kidney disease. Before taking it, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Arkamin Tablet works by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily around your body. This lowers your blood pressure and reduces your risk of having a stroke, a heart attack, or kidney problems in the future. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well. You should take it regularly as prescribed for this medicine to be most effective, even if you feel better.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

• Dizziness
• Dryness in mouth
• Headache
• Nausea
• Fatigue
• Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing)
• Erectile dysfunction
• Enlarged salivary gland

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.

Arkamin Tablet is an alpha-2 agonist. It works by relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.

• It is given as an IV infusion under the supervision of a doctor.

• Arkamin Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.

• It may cause you to feel lightheaded especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension). Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.

• It may cause dryness of eyes. Take caution while using contact lenses.

• Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.

• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
