Ambrid LS Junior Syrup contains three medicines: ambroxol (mucolytic and mucokinetic agent,), levosalbutamol (short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist) and guaifenesin (expectorant). This combination helps remove sputum buildup in the airways and makes breathing easier by opening up the airways.

Ambroxol hydrochloride is a mucolytic and mucokinetic agent. This medicine thins the sticky and viscous mucus stuck in the airways and allows the body to remove it through cough easily; thus, it is a mucolytic agent. It also makes one cough out more sputum by increasing the intensity of the cough and removing the sticky mucus secretions from the airways, thus functioning as a mucokinetic agent. The mechanism of action involves depolymerizing mucopolysaccharides of mucus which decreases the viscosity and increases the transport of bronchial secretions.

Levosalbutamol is a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It works by working on the beta-2 adrenergic receptors located in the airways, which results in its widening.
