Introduction To Valethamate

Valethamate is used to treat pain associated with smooth muscle spasms. It may be used in cases of dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) and for reducing post- operative pain. This injection is also used to reduce the first stage of labor.

The most common side effects are blurred vision, increased heart rate, dilatation of the pupil, and constipation. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. Dry mouth may also occur as a side effect. But, frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake, and sugarless candy may help you. Avoid alcohol intake while having this medicine as it may worsen your side effects.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking this medicine. Before taking this medicine, you should let your doctor know if you have liver and kidney problems.
