Itopride

Itopride is a prescription medicine used to treat nausea, vomiting, and prevent the feeling of fullness during or shortly after a meal. It also treats stomach discomfort, or heartburn caused by the flow of the stomach contents back into your food pipe.

Itopride is taken before meals in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should take this medicine until your doctor tells you to stop. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are headache, dry mouth, and stomach pain. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It also causes dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness. This medicine may also cause diarrhea, so it is better to take plenty of fluids while taking this medicine as it may help to prevent dehydration.

Before taking this medicine, you should let your doctor know if you have liver or kidney problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor.

Treatment of Heartburn
Heartburn is a burning feeling in your chest caused by stomach acids travelling back up towards your throat and mouth (acid reflux). Itopride improves the movement of food in the stomach and helps prevent heartburn.

You should take it exactly as it is prescribed or as it says on the label for it to be effective. Some simple lifestyle changes can help stop or reduce heartburn. Think about what foods trigger heartburn and try to avoid them; eat smaller, more frequent meals; try to lose weight if you are overweight and try to find ways to relax. Do not eat within 3–4 hours of going to bed.

Itopride blocks the action of chemicals in the body that can make you feel or be sick. It is often used to prevent nausea and vomiting that may be caused due to some medicines or any other medical treatment. This medicine helps you recover more comfortably. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for but always take this medicine as it is prescribed.
