Chlorhexidine Gluconate + Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor + Silver Sulfadiazine is a combination medicine used in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. It helps in the fast healing of ulcers (sores) of the leg, ankle, or foot in diabetic patients. This medicine accelerates the healing of ulcers and the formation of healthy skin.

Chlorhexidine Gluconate + Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor + Silver Sulfadiazine is meant for external use only. You should use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. The affected area should be clean and dry before application of this medicine. You must wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medicine. This medicine should be used regularly to get the most benefit from it.

If your condition does not improve or gets worse at any time, let your doctor know. You can help this medication work better by keeping the affected areas clean, making sure they are dry and washing your hands before and after treating the infection. It is advised to use proper footwear to increase the effectiveness of the medicine.

Some common side effects include skin irritation, rash, and pain at the site of application. If the side effects bother you or do not go away, let your doctor know. Some people have a severe allergic reaction which needs urgent medical attention. Signs of this include rash, swelling of the lips, throat or face, swallowing or breathing problems, dizziness and nausea. Get emergency help if this happens.

It is not likely that other medicines you take by mouth or injection will affect the way it works but talk to your doctor before using it if you have used a similar medicine before and had an allergic reaction. This medicine should only be used if it is clearly needed during pregnancy.

Diabetic foot ulcers are painful open sores or wounds that usually occur in diabetic patients on the leg, ankle, bottom or top portion of the foot or on the tips of the toes. If severely infected, hospitalisation may also be needed in such patients. Chlorhexidine Gluconate + Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor + Silver Sulfadiazine is used for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. The antimicrobial properties of this medicine helps in prevention of infection, promotes healing and helps in formation of healthy skin. Keep the affected area clean. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Chlorhexidine Gluconate + Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor + Silver Sulfadiazine is a combination of three medicines: Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor, Chlorhexidine Gluconate and Silver Sulfadiazine which treat diabetic foot ulcer. Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor works by releasing a growth factor that causes skin regeneration in diabetic foot ulcer. Chlorhexidine Gluconate is an antiseptic and disinfectant which effectively cleans out the ulcer surface to prevent infection. Silver Sulfadiazine is an antibiotic. It stops bacteria from producing folic acid, a vitamin required for bacterial multiplication.

• Chlorhexidine Gluconate + Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor + Silver Sulfadiazine is used for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers.
• Dress the ulcer area properly as advised by your doctor.
• Wear comfortable shoes and avoid shoes with high heels and pointed toe.
• Do not walk barefoot, even at home. You might tread on something and damage your skin.
• Make sure to not put pressure on the affected foot while standing or walking.
• Avoid the use of heat pads on the affected foot.
• Look for cuts, sores, burns, and redness while examining your feet.
• Apply moisturizer to prevent skin cracking. However, avoid applying it between the toes, as this can cause the skin to become too moist leading to an infection.
• Have a healthy diet and try to keep your blood sugar level as near normal as possible.
• Seek medical help if your foot infection doesn't improve in a day or two, or becomes significantly worse.
