Betamethasone + Ciprofloxacin + Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate is a medicine used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes or ear. It kills and prevents the growth of infection-causing bacteria. This way it relieves the symptoms and speeds up the healing process.

Betamethasone + Ciprofloxacin + Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate is to be used only in the affected eye or ear. Read the label carefully for instruction before you use the medicine. Use it in the exact dose and duration as advised by the doctor or as instructed in the label. Wash your hands before using this medicine. Complete your dose even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may bring back the infection.

Use of this medicine may cause burning, irritation, itching, and redness at the site of application. These are usually temporary and resolve with time. However, if they persist or get worse, inform your doctor. In case of accidental contact with your ears, nose, or mouth, immediately rinse it with water.

This will ensure that the infection is completely cured and prevent it from returning.

• Application site reactions (burning, irritation, itching and redness)

This medicine is for external use only.Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye/ear without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid or ear. Wipe off extra liquid.

Betamethasone + Ciprofloxacin + Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate is a combination of two medicines: Ciprofloxacin and Betamethasone. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and repairing themselves. Betamethasone is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy.

• Your doctor has prescribed Betamethasone + Ciprofloxacin + Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate to cure your infection and improve symptoms.

• Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.

• Do not touch the tip to any surface, or to your eye/ear, to avoid contamination.

• Talk to your doctor if your symptoms haven't started to improve within two days of starting treatment, if they get worse during treatment or if you get another eye /ear infection.

• If using Betamethasone + Ciprofloxacin + Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate for the eye:

  • Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
  • Do not wear contact lenses while using this medication.
  • It may cause short term blurring of vision when first used. Use caution before driving or using machines.
